Gizmo is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is with the stunning silver streaks that run through his soft coat. Once he gets a sudsy bath and grooming ...Gizmo will absolutely be one of the most adorable guys around. At just about 2.5 years old (we'll update exact age after final vetting) and 9 lbs, Gizmo is a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet small dog is welcome... while being large enough to go on walks enjoying the sunshine with his family. Gizmo is every bit the young guy...fun and active once comfortable in his surroundings. And at the same time he is happy and well-behaved. He's likely to express himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses of love. At this point in Gizmo's development, he loves almost everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Gizmo to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Gizmo to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group classes to be the very best dog he's capable of being. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement trainers in your area. We also feel Gizmo would be most comfortable with an adult family or one with older, dog-crazy kids where voices are softer and the energy is calmer. Right now, Gizmo is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Gizmo becomes so loyal once comfortable in his family that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than being outdoors...trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Gizmo is flexible enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Gizmo has the beautiful coat and cottony-soft hair that speaks of his breed mix. Shih Tzus (with perhaps a touch of Poodle in the mix) have non-shedding coats that are often great for people with allergies. Gizmo will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of salmon oil would be perfect) to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. We're requested that Gizmo be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur. If it doesn't...Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Gizmo's neuter and microchip if our Denver area vet is used. Gizmo is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 2/24/18 (or one week later depending on space). Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup.
