About Rex

Adoption Fee: $300
Australian Kelpie
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Little Rexy, about 18 mos - 2 years. He's little! Maybe 30 lbs. Full grown. Rexy is a beautiful little Kelpie, from Los Banos. Saw a video of him with another, smaller dog, it didn't require much thought to wave him in. The volunteers at Los Banos do an excellent job at coordinating. He was neutered and here within 2 days of hearing 'hours to euthanasia'. There are just too many dogs for most county shelters to house. Hence our theme song, 'Spay and neuter your animals, please'. It's a hit. Rex is awesome. He is off leash, very attentive to my voice or whistle and he packs up and stays with us. And hops right back into the van. He's even better than I imagined. Rex is excellent with other dogs. Hesitant with people, and soon as he knows you mean him no harm, he relaxes. No issues with human genders, he rode here with a very nice couple. And he crated beautifully for the drive here. Since getting here, he was microchipped, without a peep. Met a pack, without a peep, and spent the night in the big yard, without a peep. He rode loose in the van to our hiking spot, and did fine with the regulars. I kept him on a leash, as he's not real confident with his little self. And within 10 minutes, he was waving that tail like a flag. Full mast. Rex is absolutely adorable. I think he needs a calm environment, but who knows, maybe a bunch of kids is what he would love. He's totally respectful of humans, and dogs, and doesn't overstep. Gotta love the Australian Kelpie. And, thanks Los Banos, for not mis-identifying him as a GSD (so common in other shelters) Photos updated at: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2026967444185991.1073742550.1428374324045309&type=1&l=90bcc2756a Adoption fee is $300, includes vetting, transportation, micro-chip + registration.
