About Axle

Adoption Fee: $325
Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Axle is a completely lovely dog. He came to me one cold morning, having been saved from a local, rural shelter just hours before. He was lost and since nobody came for him, he was out of time. The rescue community pulled together and brought him to me. He got out of the car and happily followed me into the house. After taking care of business outside, we came in and I fed him some breakfast. Then he was out with another dog to run and play. He looked at me as though he knew his life had just been saved. He is friendly and affectionate without being needy or pushy. He will occasionally come and gently put his head in my lap (sometimes with front legs too) for pets. He isn't fond of the crate (whines) but is rapidly getting better. He causes no trouble when he is loose in the house and I have no hesitation leaving him out of his crate. He has gotten on my bed a time or two. I say 'off' and he comes right down (like he KNOWS he isn't supposed to be there but thought he'd see if I'd permit it). His favorite spot is my window seat. He can rest and watch the world go by. He loves to play with the bigger dog and plays with my little Frenchies - no issues at all. He is even good with my puppies. He is obviously a house dog - leaves things alone, has learned about the doggy door (in about 10 minutes by following the other dog) and when he needs to go - he goes out. Most dogs who come to me have some sort of issues or fears or problems. This guy seems to just roll with the flow. He is happy and playful without being hyper. He would do well with other dogs including small dogs. He checked out my cat but not aggressively. He would be happy with long walks, cuddle with you - whatever is going on he'd be ready. He is affectionate, friendly and has good house manners. He does alert (bark) when people come or the cows get closer than they are supposed to. But he quiets quickly. Axle weighs about 40 pounds and we are guessing his age to be between 2 and 4 years old Axle is going to make some lucky family a GREAT pet and companion. If you think that Axle would be a fit for your family please fill out an application at http://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application His adoption fee will be $325 and all proceeds go towards future rescues.
