About Layla

My family got Layla off an ad on Craigslist a little over a month ago. We drove an hour and a half to get her when I got there I was heart broken. She obvioudsly was neglected she was severly overweight she still had her dew claws that have not been trimmed she was filthy due to her owners keeping her outside in the middle of winter. Her owners were two young kids trying to make a buck. I could not leave her under a clear mind, so I paid them what they wanted. Upon getting Layla home we bathed her and have had her on a diet and realized she was not in good shape at all and I might have taken on way more then I could chew in trying to get her out of the environment she was in, we put her on a healthier diet other then the 4 cans of Alpo she was being fed and she has lost weight and is more active. She does scoot herself across our wood floors sometimes I dont know if she is just plump and lazy because she will surely run around the back yard like she is at a dog show trying to impress everyone but I do believe she might have hip displacia, but she holds her own and does not seem to be in any pain. We give her a supplement daily. On trying to save Layla we have put ourselves in a bad situation and we are not able to care for her physically or financially. She is the sweetest girl, she is potty trained. I would love to see her go to a home that can give her what she needs and be her final forever home.
