About WOLFIE

Adoption Fee: 375$
Australian Cattle Dog / Chow Chow
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Proudly presenting WOLFIE, Wolfie arrived in WA in January after an 18 hour ground transport that brought him from CA. There he had been gone through a lot. After being attacked by one of her dogs, a woman had dropped WOLFIE off at a local vet but never returned to pick him up, nor pay the bill. He had undergone surgeries around his head and neck. Then my rescue ADR.org heard of this situation and offered to take WOLFIE on. He still was altogether 4 weeks in a vet crate with little to no exercise. He was more than willing to leave this place. Since his arrival on Orcas island Wolfie has well settled in the home of the founder of ADR.org.: after the first two days of initial anxiety to be back in the night in a wire crate and trying everything to make his way 'out', he then and ever since has no problem to get into his crate of 42' for the night. He is well with other dogs (living with 2 big male dogs and 1 female, as well as 3 cats. Wolfie is respectful with cats but just cannot help it to chase them a bit - but nothing dangerous. The founder of ADR.org also rescued a 4 months old kitten to which he is all the time exposed whilst in the house. So if you have a cat(s) a cohabitation will work. WOLFIE walks well on a leash/harness but you have to have a solid grip on the leash at all times- especially if he sees rabbits, squirrels or deer. A strong command of 'NO' and a verbal correction is very well received by Wolfie. He likes car rides, and does not get sea-sick. As for eating he is picky at times -meaning he eats a bit of kibbles, then stops or does not eat at all but then returns to his food dish to finish breakfast or dinner (WOLFIE is fed twice), and he loves cottage cheese (but not mixed with kibbles). He would possibly like a lot to be with another dog (in his opinion 'females' preferred%81S. Regarding being with children - I think he would be not good in handling random, uncontrolled approaches as children use to practice- and will run away and shy away. So I think a home with adults only that are around most of the time would be preferred and to his best. He can hang out with you forever inside - as he loves 'his' human and the sheer presence of you gives WOLFIE the comfort he so longs for. But when he sees you grabbing his leash'|WOLFIE (oh boy) is ready to 'go'. He is a mix of a Australian shepherd and Chow (most likely), weights about 45lbs and is around 5-6. Up to date with vaccinations for 1 year, microchipped and neutered.
