About ROWDY - Adopted

Affenpinscher mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

****** ROWDY HAS BEEN ADOPTED ****** Rowdy in Lake Charles, Louisiana is a very sweet 1 yr. old - 18 lb. Affenpinscher mix who was found as a stray and taken to the shelter in hopes his family would claim him. Sadly, no one came, so NBGR gladly pulled him to help him find a new family. Rowdy is a happy boy, still full of puppy energy and always ready for play. Whoever had Rowdy previously didn't spend time working with him on basic commands, so he would benefit from obedience classes. He is eager to please and smart, and a family with patience and willingness to work with Rowdy will get this boy back on track. In his new home Rowdy would enjoy having like-energy dogs to play with. He does well with all the dogs in his foster home, but he tends to get on the nerves of older dogs who don't find his in-your-face, feisty puppy ways or energy level amusing. Rowdy loves toys and loves to run outside, exploring in the backyard, chasing sticks and balls. He has a fondness for his foster mom's koi pond and is not afraid of the water - thankfully he doesn't mind baths either! When play time is over, he is very happy curling up next to you on the sofa, being in your lap, laying at your feet, napping, or chewing on his antler. When it's bedtime, this little guy sleeps quietly in his covered crate until his foster mom wakes him up in the morning. He gets crated without whining or accidents when his foster mom leaves the house. Rowdy enjoys and is eager to go for walks. His foster mom is working with him to understand that putting his harness on is not a game and that pulling is not the proper way to walk. Because Rowdy still is and acts like a puppy, he needs to be watched closely. He has mistaken shoes for toys, so it's important to keep your shoes and other small items secured. He is doing pretty well with potty training but should be kept under a watchful eye until he is totally trustworthy. Rowdy would do well in a home with older children. Our fear with younger children are smaller toys that could be easily gobbled up. And, that Rowdy's rambunctiousness would easily knock a small child over. Rowdy is going to be a wonderful addition to the family who adopts him. There will be lots of fun and snuggle times in your future. Do you have some extra room in your heart and home for Rowdy and an environment that matches his energy level? If yes, please let us know by completing our adoption application. Rowdy is is micro chipped and fully vetted. Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
