About Gretel n.k.a Addie

Adoption Fee: $275
German Shepherd / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Miss Adaline May (Addie) is the sweetest, most loving girl. She's a bit of a tomboy; happiest when she's in the backyard or wrestling with a foster brother. She's truly easy to please and probably the happiest she's ever been in her life. She wants nothing more than to make her people happy; she's just not always sure how to go about doing that, a little positive reinforcement goes a long way. Addie is crate trained, but is prone to a little anxiety over being confined.. She's much happier if she's just left to sleep on the couch or even in the crate if the door is left open. She has learned most of her basic commands and is in the process of being leashed trained. She does pretty good but will still pull if she sees something exciting. Addie was probably left outside to her own devices in her previous life. She can be protective of the yard and her people. No aggression, she will just bark incessantly at strangers or even men that she knows. Sometimes she will hide under the deck if she knows a man well but his presence still makes her nervous. Her thunder jacket or a sweater help calm her some and she does much better inside when meeting new people or being around men. When she first came to us she tried to horde and hide food and treats. She seems to have overcome this for the most part but may revert in a new environment. We have had very little issue with her begging and she sits and waits patiently for her food bowl and doesn't start eating until given the 'go ahead.' She never fails to come give you love and kisses to say 'Thank you' for a meal. Addie can be anxious and scared but she has never showed any aggression whatsoever. Addie would probably do best with another older dog that could show her the ropes or in a household where someone was home most of the day. She would not do well anywhere she was expected to spend long periods kenneled. Anyone who has the great pleasure of making Miss Adaline a family member will find that she really is a special girl and they will be lucky to have her. *** visit www.promisesanimalrescue.org if interested in more pics and info for adoption ****
