Loki is a one-year-old deaf male Blue Heeler. He is neutered and up to date with his vaccinations (December, 2017). Loki is bright and extremely energetic and will need firm and consistent discipline due to his rambunctious personality and occasional lack of attention span. Loki came from a deaf family who adopted him from a shelter in St.Louis. Because the previous owner has young children and a newborn, they were unable to meet his exercise needs and he was crated most of the time, which led to some aggressive behavior. Fortunately, since coming into my home, he has been walked 3 times a day, which has dramatically changed his behavior. He knows some commands such as 'sit', 'no', and 'down'. I am working on his leash manners since he thinks the leash is a tool for tug-of-war. The more Loki is receives training and adequate exercise, the more content he is, which has made training much easier since he loves having a consistent routine. He absolutely loves his toys and will entertain himself for hours on end. He also loves to run and play with other dogs, which is a great way for him to expel energy. Loki is not always comfortable being around submissive women, but he listens to my commands well. It is a matter of having an assertive handler who understands him. Although he can be extremely protective, I've learned that the more secure and content he feels, the less he feels the need to be the protector. I believe that Loki is an amazing dog who is extremely sweet and loyal. He is looking for a patient, loving owner who will continue to teach him how to grow into a beautiful and well-behaved dog.
