About Artie

Meet Artie! He is an 11mo old, neutered Australian Shepard/Golden boy. Artie is a very energetic, play driven, smart and adorable guy who is VERY treat motivated! He has learned things like sit, wait and 'all the way down.' He has great food manners and will wait for the 'go' signal before eating his food, which is impressive because he was very underweight when he was found. Artie loves morning and evening walks and has great leash manners, using a harness. He does react by barking and pulling when he sees bikes and other dogs, but with LOTS of good treats he can forget they're there! We think Artie would be great in a single dog home where he can get the attention he needs to further develop good manners. You see, Artie was abandoned when he was young, and he still has a lot to learn since his previous family probably didn't interact with him much. Artie has a tendency to 'mouth' or gently bite both during play and when petting him. Artie has done ok with a dog mate, though he definitely wouldn't do well with low energy dogs or older dogs because he just wants to rough play for hours! We're not sure if Artie is good with cats or young children, as he hasn't met them yet. He would be a great adventure dog though, we are certain of that! He loves to play tug of war, and he needs lots of toys and interactive play time to keep him busy, and if not�'�|he will find other items to chew on! Personal space and 'bubbles' are foreign to this guy! He will give gentle kisses when invited and he will follow you around and lay at your feet to show you affection. He would be happy to meet you, if you think he might be a good fit
