About Oscar

Hello, everyone! My name is Oscar and I would like to introduce myself. I am a very handsome all-gray, neutered cat, with gold eyes, and I weigh about 12 pounds. I just arrived at the Safe Place for Pets Welcome Center. Even though it is comfortable, and the room service and housekeeping staff (aka cattery volunteer team) is great, my being here means that I need a new furever home. I sadly lost my dad last fall, and his daughter and son-in-law were not able to keep me because of the daughter's cat allergy. All of us were very disappointed, but they did the next best thing to help me find that new special someone by bringing me here. When my dad and I were still together, I enjoyed being outside during the day and visiting with the neighbors. I always came inside at night and really loved just being close to my dad and sitting in his lap as much as possible. I am a very playful guy, even for a 13-year-old, and really get excited about chasing strings, shoelaces, and cords�'�|look out if you have drawstring cords on a sweatshirt hood! At the end of the day, I liked to sleep curled up on the bed close to my dad. Since my dad has passed away, I have adjusted quite well to being indoor-only. If there is a window to sit in to watch the world, I'm good. Since I tend to be shy and wary in new situations, I am taking my time settling in at the Welcome Center. So far, I am doing OK with the other cats living there, and I have not had to use my claws or growl vigorously at them, but I have uttered a low rumble to let them know that I am not so sure about them just yet. The cattery volunteers are very nice, and I am looking forward to getting to know them and enjoying their attention.
