Sunny was taken to a small NM shelter with her mom and brother when the authorities said their owner could not (and did not) care for them. There she lived entirely outdoors and then spent over two months languishing in the shelter pen, looking out of the rusted kennel fencing, wondering what happened. Now in foster care in the Arvada (Denver area), Sunny is quiet, mellow, gentle and now housebroken. She has really warmed up to the men in the house and has adjusted to life inside a home, but she truly loves being outside most of the time on nice days so a yard is a must. She does great in the kennel were activity is and when she knows no one is home and she can be trusted out and about when you are home. She still only tries to sniff the cat but does not chase her. Outside of the home, she is still somewhat timid with new people and other dogs, but she is improving. We can only assume that little Sunny never met a stranger before leaving her first home, and had no real life experiences. Her leash walking is coming along and she knows sit, down, stay and leave it. She is such a happy, happy girl! Sunny has a protective voice when needed but she is not in the least protective in action.
