About Gunther

Adoption Fee: $225
Pit Bull / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

He is a sweet, petite, friendly fellow with silly ears. He was also pulled from the Franklin County shelter. Gunther is a spunky little guy at just 40 pounds and 2-ish he likes to play but seems to have a good read on the dogs around him. If he's with a playful pup he will tumble and play, if he's with an older reserved dog, he will relax with them. Very dog friendly, does not seem to bother with the cats but I think if they ran he would chase. He is eager to please, loves affection and learning what it is to be a warm and cozy inside doggie. Sadly Gunther, like so many dogs in the south, is Heartworm Positive. This is caused by a single bite from an infected mosquito! Once he has put on a little weight he will go through Heartworm treatment. It is no walk in the park and a simple, inexpensive pill each month would have protected little Gunther. He is not bad on a leash, pulls just a bit but is easy to handle. We are working on potty training and my dogs are showing him the ropes. If you are looking to add to your pack or know someone who is share this boy! He would even do well in an apartment with walks or a community dog park since he is pretty quiet. He is learning the crate and is doing pretty well but honestly, we don't use it much. He is updated on vaccines, on prevention (flea/tick/Heartworm) and microchipped. He will be neutered on Valentines Day and will be ready for his new home shortly thereafter. He can be adopted and still go through the Heartworm treatment at our vet. He would need to be calm after the treatment for the 30 days required while those nasty little worms are killed off. It is crate rest and leash walks so he does not get too excited and raise his heart rate. Get your apps in quickly for this cutie-pie! Gunther adoption fee will be $225
