About Kona-ADOPTION PENDING

Kona is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is with the stunning chestnut and golden coloring that run through his soft coat. Once he gets a sudsy bath and brushing ...Kona will absolutely be one of the most adorable guys around. Kona has been through so much in his short life. When he was found in the night drop-box at a high-kill Texas shelter, it was clear that he had been side-swiped by a car. He had road burn on his belly and a back leg that he was favoring...this sweet, tiny guy was lucky to be alive! Rescued Pets Movement (our amazing rescuers in Texas that make our saving these precious lives possible) was aware of the sweetness of this guy. They immediately contacted Farfel's and made arrangements for Kona to be seen by a vet (we'll update with this information as soon as available) Farfel's is happy to cover any costs necessary to repair Kona's injury if our Denver vet is used. At just about 3.5 years old and 7 lbs, Kona is a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet smaller dog is welcome. He's such a perfect age...old enough to have left his puppyish behaviors behind and young enough to have many, many active and healthy years remaining. Kona is every bit the young guy...fun and active. But at the same time he is a happy and well-behaved pup once he's used to his environment. Kona is a very expressive dog with his wagging tail and excited kisses of love. At this point in Kona's development, he loves almost everyone once he's comfortable. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Kona to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Kona to attend positive reinforcement group obedience classes to be the very best dog he's capable of being. (Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area). We also feel Kona would be most comfortable with an adult family or one with older, dog-loving children where voices are softer and the energy is calmer. Right now, Kona is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Kona is loyal once bonded and that means he can be a constant companion. He would love nothing more than being outdoors...trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Kona is flexible enough that he can be introduced to most situations...and if there is love and gentle guidance, he can succeed. Kona has the beautiful coat and cottony-soft hair that speaks of the Cavalier King Charles. He will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of salmon oil would be great) to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Kona is arriving on transport in Boulder in mid February (date will be updated as soon as finalized). Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup.
