About Violet-PENDING!

Australian Shepherd / Border Collie
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

The very first thing our rescuer noticed about Violet were her gorgeous eyes in the dim high-kill shelter light. Violet's eyes are amazing...so wise giving a beauty to her face that caught the attention of her rescuer. Our rescuer stared at Violet for a bit (while Vi gently and so sweetly touched her hand with her nose) and she saw all the wonderful possibilities in this very beautiful Australian Shepherd mix. Violet appears to be an Aussie/Border Collie mix.. but we'd never swear to it. All we know is that she's a gorgeous, cuddly, super-intelligent and very loving girl. Violet immediately makes it clear that she's a LOVE! Her adorable face seems to smile when she gets loving attention and kind strokes...and then a wag of joy and her beautiful head is in your lap. Violet was brought out of her cage.. and before you know it, she was gently loving up our rescuer. Violet was immediately so joyful and clearly delighted with the turn her life had just taken! Farfel's Rescue acknowledged the great temperament of this wonderful dog and tagged her to come on transport to Colorado and a new life. She was removed from the shelter and began her education in a foster home that fell in love with her sweetness and engaging personality on the very first day. This 2 year old, 59 lb cutie-pie truly lights up when she feels like she's done a good job... some serious belly rubs and kind words will send her over the moon. Violet wants desperately to be a family girl...she would have the time of her life in an active home with older, dog-crazy kids and a gentle and fun canine best friend. We feel that Violet would do very well with either active retirees who enjoy getting out on a long hike or even a run to fulfill the exercise and mental needs of Vi's silly and fun personality. A dog-loving younger family with kids would also be a great fit for Violet. She loves people of all ages and shows her devotion in very positive ways. Once Violet's exercise needs have been met...she's an all-time smuggler. She'd love nothing more at the end of the day than to cuddle up on the couch (or bed) with her favorite people and show her loving devotion. Violet would be so excited to spend her days in the company of her people. We wouldn't want her to be left alone for long hours waiting for her family to arrive home in the evening.. 4 or so hours at a time are fine..but an entire day is just too long for an active and sensitive dog. Violet has a stunning coat with the most stunning brindle and purest of white hair. Her coat appears to have been ignored in her earlier life. To bring it back to the gorgeous coat that speaks of her breed mix, Violet will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep her coat cottony- soft and matt free. Violet won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Violet's spay and microchip immediately after her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Violet's breed mix (Aussie Shepherd and Border Collie) are known to be two of the most intelligent breeds available today. With this being the case, Farfel's feels strongly that Violet attends positive reinforcement group obedience classes. A level 1 class lasts 6 or 8 weeks, meets once each week and requires 10 - 15 minutes of practice each day. This is a minor time requirement to attain profound results. With this training under her belt, Violet will be able to accompany her people out in the world with excellent behavior. Violet will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 2/10/18. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this sweet, very loyal and cuddly best friend, please fill out and return to [email protected], fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Violet, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving girl. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
