About Maya

Yorkie
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Maya is a sponsored posting; she is being fostered in Gainesville Texas through United Yorkie Rescue. http://www.unitedyorkierescue.org Maya is a 10 yr. old 6 lb. girl who has lived with her Frenchie fur siblings who experienced an unfortunate accident 4 years ago that changed her life as well as her safety. Her family reached out to United Yorkie Rescue asking for help. Maya's story; four years ago in the middle of the night, the house security alarm went off. There was complete panic and turmoil for both the family and Maya and her furry siblings. The stress of the moment caused Maya and one of the other family dogs to engage in a fight. Something happened in that moment that unfortunately created continued battles over the years between Maya and the other dog. Her family engaged trainers in an effort to resolve the issue; meanwhile they keep the dogs separate for their safety as they will engage in fighting. Recently, one of the dogs jumped the gate separating them and Maya almost lost her eye. Luckily the injury only required stitches. They, including the trainers, have not determined with certainty that it's Maya instigating the altercations, but she definitely react with engaging in a fight. We want to help Maya find a home she'll be happy in, she's a very loving little girl and does get along with other dogs, just not the dogs in her home since the day of the alarm. Maya loves children, and could be a good candidate for a male dog.
