About Neville

Adoption Fee: $150
Black and Tan Coonhound
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Please read entire description. Neville's adoption fee is $150. Neville is heartworm positive and his adoption fee will cover his treatment costs. Neville is looking for a foster to adopt home to help him get through treatment. The vet appointment will be Lafayette, IN and will require one overnight. Potential fosters or adopters will need to be able to transport Neville for the appointment for the treatment. If interested, please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. This is the first and required step of the process. This handsome guy is Neville. He was an unclaimed stray found just before Christmas. Unfortunately, we recently found out that Neville is heartworm positive and will need to undergo heartworm treatment. He is stage 1 which means it is in the very early stages. However, Neville has lost a lot of weight due to being a bit stressed at the kennel. He will need to gain some of this weight back before he can undergo treatment to cure him. Neville has a huge appetite and is being fed a few times a day, but he is constantly in nervous motion at the kennel. The calories simply burn off. Once the weight is gained, the heartworm treatment consists of one overnight at the vet's office in Lafayette followed by 30 days of couch potato activity. That's it! Other pets are not at risk of contracting this. Heartworms are spread only through direct contact with an infected mosquito. We did discover that Neville is a perfect gentleman riding in the car and visiting the vet. He was very quiet and greeted strangers nicely. During the ride, he curled up in a ball and slept. He is very affectionate and sweet with everyone. Neville will likely need a routine to get him brushed up on house training since he has spent a few weeks in the kennel. He seems to be very quiet and well behaved out of the kennel environment. Neville has met some dogs he has liked and some dogs that he didn't. We would recommend a meet and greet with any potential canine siblings. We are unsure how Neville does with cats. Neville would likely do fine with children as long as he can be separated from the kiddos while eating. He seems like the type that would potentially counter surf, sneak a fry, or inspect the trash if given the chance. If you are interested in fostering or adopting this goofy, loving guy please send us a message and complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting.
