About Bullet

Boston Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Bullet (we picked his name after the OSU horse)... He is believed to be about 4 years old. Bullet came to live with our family over the summer. In his previous life, he lived in a home with a couple (who after getting to know Bullet, I believe the couple must have been older and not given him much attention). This couples son moved in with them. The son had a Great Dane that was said to have turned on Bullet, which resulted in a fight, causing harm to Bullet's body. After receiving some expensive help for his injuries, Bullet was surrendered to Sally's rescue. I adopted Bullet after a few days and took him home to my house. It became quickly apparent that he had not had much attention or love before. He did not know how to eat food from a bowl, only if it was tossed on the dirty ground; he was afraid of dog toys, did not answer to his name Troy (which is why we renamed him), nor did he answer to any name or sound for that matter. When I had him fully vetted, I made sure his hearing was checked, and was reassured her indeed can hear. He gets very excited to meet new people, but needs to be reminded of personal boundaries. He quickly settled in with my older father who stays home with him all day. He loves to snuggle and take naps. He didn't have much to do with my other dog (her name is Blue) in the beginning, but would become very scared when Blue would play with toys and run with my 6 year old son. He is trained to use a doggy door, however, he does have indoor urination accidents. I've used a water spray bottle for behavior modification, and now the bottle doesn't even have water in it, but he still knows what it means if I hold the bottle up. He would do better as an only dog or in a home with a female dog that is his size or smaller. He has finally learned to play with my brothers dog that visits, but she is the same size as Bullet, and ultimately I believe it's because he is not afraid of her size. Bullet will play for hours with my brothers dog without a single issue. My dog Blue, is the most passive and patient dog with my son and Bullet; however I truly believe that whatever happened to Bullet in his past with the Great Dane, has left him emotionally scarred of any dog physically larger than him. He has snapped at her over treats, bitten her over food and while barking at the neighbor dogs (also much larger than he is). For this reason, he would do better alone or with a smaller female dog. He is good with my 6 year old son, has never once snapped or growled at him. Bullet is totally vetted and is available for adoption. We do not ship our kids.
