About Nicki

Adoption Fee: $50
Jack Russell / Chihuahua
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Nicki is a very sweet pup, about 2 years old. I rescued her and another small dog (about 9 years old) from the side of a highway at the start of 2017. She clearly had had minimal to no human interaction prior to rescuing her. After attempts to see if she had an owner and trying to rehome her, I fell in love with her cuddly nature and contagious energy. I can no longer keep her because I feel she is not getting everything she needs to live her fullest life. She is very high energy, and loves running around and playing. She's very fast! She has gotten better on a leash - she requires a harness because she tends to pull, as she is fascinated by smells and sounds. She will bark at people when walking around but once they are close she is not aggressive. She takes some warming up to as she can get overstimulated. I've found that the more exercise she gets, the better her behavior is. Unfortunately, my lifestyle does not cater to being able to walk her regularly enough or give her the exercise she needs. Nicki loves to cuddle and be pet, and instantly warms up to people who show her affection. She is threatened by other dogs which she reacts to with aggression, however I believe that with time, patience, and training, she will become more social with other dogs (she has a few dog friends that she is comfortable with). She would do best in a home with no other dogs, and probably two adults, as she can sometimes get overwhelmed by too many people. She's not great around kids because she has not had a lot of exposure with them, so sometimes she barks but she is not aggressive. She is up to date on her shots, does not have any special diet, has a microchip, and is 100% house trained. When I found her she was very timid and fearful, and has made a miraculous turnaround to the sweet girl she is today. She is still very young, and she is very smart - she has learned a lot and is still learning. In a home where she can get exercise, structure, attention, and a lot of love and patience, she will only keep getting better. I am located in Dallas - please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more pictures! I love Nicki so much and I know that trying to find her a new home is the best thing for her living her best life.
