About Lewis

Lewis is approx 1-2 years old, a mix between coonhound and lab But we do know is that he is patient with kiddos and other dogs. We busted him out from the Maricopa West Shelter. Lewis is a big ham! He relies on other dogs to tell him that people are okay, but his confidence is building every day! Lewis tends to try and lead people with his mouth so it is recommended that he live with older children. He absolutely loves going on walks and will let you know that the sun is down and it is time to go for that walk. Even though he loves walks, it still takes some convincing to get him in his harness. Lewis has the worlds biggest personality. He likes to lean on you to direct you to scratching his belly and he will race you to bed. Lewis does have a kennel, but due to what we can only assume were long periods of kenneling, we never close the door. He is house broken and does use the doggy door. He is very good about not getting into trouble for stealing or chewing on anything in the house. When Lewis came to us, his hips were showing signs of muscle wasting, but after a vet visit and a few weeks of massage, therapy and walks, it has been determined that this was most likely due to over kenneling as well. Now he is healthy, happy and would love a forever home! Lewis would prefer a home with another dog who is active, but not a puppy. He likes to play but really doesn't like to be bothered when he is resting by other dogs ( mom can move him without a problem when he's sleeping, but only mom). Lewis is still learning that car rides are not scary so he requires a person or another dog his size to be with him on car rides.
