About Roxanne

Rottweiler
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Roxanne is a big, loveable girl who will need a patient home to continue to blossom into the great dog we know she really is. This sweetie weighs about 90lbs and is around 4 years old. Roxanne clearly had a rough time before coming to SSRR. She was timid, nervous, very head shy and would 'pancake' at every sudden sound. It is suspect there was past abuse which may have contributed to her having fearful behavior on quick movements, loud noises and holding objects in your hands. She was heartworm positive when she came to us but is in her final stage of treatment. She has clearly had several litters. Despite her tough times, this sweetheart has never displayed any signs of aggression, to us, kids or other dogs. It's taken some time but she has begun to break out of her shell and really blossom into a sweet, goofy, loving girl who enjoys getting head and belly rubs like nothing else. Roxanne enjoys receiving attention from her foster family, including their two older kids (10+years old) and now isn't shy about nudging you to pay attention. She's an expert in washing feet- or anywhere else she can get away with giving you kisses. Roxanne is fantastic on a leash but is still a bit weary of cars driving by. She's gotten along really well with the foster family's dog, who is of similar size. This big gal isn't into toys so much, but on occasion she'll be interested in chewing on a bone/antler or rope-like toys. Interactions with cats have been slow as she was initially very curious, but she's made great strides and can now sit calmly in the same room but hasn't been taken off leash around him yet. She has shown some interest is chasing small furry critters (including opossums) so homes without cats or small dogs may be a more ideal fit for her. During our time with Roxanne, we have seen her grow more comfortable and confident being relaxed in larger spaces (after spending nearly two weeks only venturing out of her crate for potty breaks). She is not a very active dog currently, as she is still building trust in people and remains on rest during HW treatment however every now and then the inner pup comes out and she shows her playful self. She would benefit with a forever home that has time and patience to provide a loving environment for a life she deserves.
