About Luna

Adoption Fee: $20
Domestic Cat
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

We adopted Luna as a 6 week old kitten from the SPCA. She was adorable and we had just lost our cat Peanut. We were heartbroken about losing Peanut who had been a part of our family for 12 years. Peanut was the most loving, wonderful cat imaginable and it was VERY sad to have to put him down when he got sick. We hoped Luna would fill the emptiness in our hearts, but oddly enough, Luna is not that cat. She has been loved and held since she was tiny and brought to our home. She has been very well cared for. It feels as though Luna does not care about humans. She never wants to be held or petted. She tries to bite whenever we try to give her love and attention. It doesn't matter who tries to be sweet with her, she is completely indifferent to human touch. On a rare occasion she will want love at 2am and I always give it to her, in hopes that she would learn to enjoy being pet. But during the day she just doesn't care. She likes being outside. She has killed more mice than I can count and once brought in a baby bird we had to rescue from her clutches. She is a natural hunter and this is what gives her pleasure. Often she is outside all night and sleeps during the day. I had hoped that with age, she would change but it doesn't appear to be true. I recently went to someones house who had a cat jump into my lap and stayed there for an hour. I yearn for an affectionate cat like this. Life is too short to have a cat who doesn't like to be lovey. Luna would love to live on a farm. She would be perfectly happy living in a barn among other animals. She gets along ok with our 2 dogs. She is not afraid of them and often tries to bat at them with her paws. She has never been viscous to any human or other animal. My dogs basically keep away from her. So I am completely at a loss for what to do about Luna. I care deeply about her and her well being but I want a different kind of cat. I would never put her down or give her away unless I was positive that she was going to a great home that would understand her little quirks and love her anyway. My sister told me about this rescue site so I am giving it a try. So if you live on a big piece of property and you need a good mouser, let me know.
