About Mr. Paulie Meatballs

Thank you so much for reading all of this post. If you are a dog lover, you'll understand that information is important in choosing a pet. I have a lovely and amazing 4.5 yr old Pit named Mr. Paulie Meatballs. We've been together for the last 4 years. We have had a very successful and healthy relationship and he has been happy and participating as a wonderful pet for me in NYC - and about two years ago, this started to change. He is a very intuitive animal. And also a little sensitive sometimes. He is not cut out for life in an apartment in the city with me anymore. Now, I need to move my elderly mother in with me and under no circumstances are the two compatible. I can manage myself to accommodate Paulie's sensitivities, but I cannot trust that my mother will be able to. My mother moves in middle of February and I need to find him the RIGHT place to live before then. Paulie is exceptional company. He comes on vacations with me and has been all over NYC. He shops in stores and goes on long walks and even an occasional run while I'm biking. I've dressed him up for Halloween and he communicates when he needs something. He's polite and accepting. Really he has a very human spirit about him. We've had some very successful doggie playdates and vacations to lakes with friends. Paulie LOVES to run on the beach and swim in a lake. He doesn't mind taking a bath in my shower. He sits. He stays. He waits. He knows down, shake and high five. This is a very intelligent dog. But, I'm afraid time has run out for what I can do for Paulie's inability to be flexible around all humans. When he gets nervous he lets you know. I also want him to feel happier and more confident, run with other dogs. My environment is not keeping him happy enough. This is a work dog. Or a pet for a person with another dog. He comes fully trained. He only needs the right environment to thrive. We have done both a film shoot and a print campaign and he absolutely LOVED being on set and working. He absolutely knew he was being of service when we arrived to the sets. He took direction and did EXACTLY as asked. I live in an apartment and he gets 4 walks a day and so much love and training. When I work from home, he is right by my side most of the day. My dog reiki healer and I think that a retired police officer would be an amazing person for him to live with. Or as an emotional support pet. But I believe he will be best suited where he can work and be useful day to day. Or, he could be a working dog. A ranch. He is shy but when the right combo of active dogs are around him, he is fully engaged and LOVES to run and play and be a part of the pack. Paul came to me right after a breakup, and I now have a partner. He and I are planning to have a child in the next year. I cannot trust him around my mom. I think a strong male who lives in a home with an outside area and another pet would be a GREAT fit for him. He LOVES my doorman who is about 6 ft and 300lbs of muscle. Paulie is amazing company. Really responsive and ready to please. But he needs the right home. A mix of space, quiet and yet enough stimulation and work. So smart.. So dignified. Obedient. I'm going to miss his presence in my life, but I do not think we are a good fit any longer. I want to find him the BEST home. It has to be a good fit for both..and I'm sure that is possible. I will do whatever is needed to make this transition smooth for everyone, especially Paulie. I have a car and can transport him. I also trust that whomever gets Paulie next will be infinitely grateful for having been matched with this dog. Thank you so much.
