About Sprocket

Australian Shepherd mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

I adopted Sprocket almost 10 years ago when she was only 6 months old. She was a rescue from a reservation where the puppies are often abused and neglected. She is a very loving dog but comes with some serious challenges that anyone seeking to adopt her should know. Firstly, Sprocket was re-homed with my parents nearly a year ago after a few incidents with our son where she either nipped our barked at him and so, she would not be a good fit for anyone with children. Secondly, she has gotten continually aggressive towards other dogs, even ones that she has typically been friendly with as she has gotten older. She recently attacked my parents dog which is why she needs to be re-homed again. Finally, and most importantly, she has suffered from severe separation anxiety since she was a puppy. We have tried everything from crate training, to medication to seeing a dog psychologist and nothing has helped. Sprocket would be a good fit for someone young and active without kids and who has the ability to let her roam freely inside and out. Sadly, if we cannot find a suitable home for her our only other option is to have her put to sleep which is a difficult thing for us to consider.
