I have an acquaintance that has a 9 year FS Newfoundland that desperately needs a home. I saw the pet at least 6-8 months ago for a skin condition that responded to antibiotics. It was fungal tested and was found to be negative. The skin condition has returned and the owner is unwilling to do any further treatment. She called me the other day to euthanize the pet. She has a 14 year old son who is diabetic and also has other serious health issues. I recommended for her to try to find the dog a home through a rescue organization. She would not. The pet previously had a home, but that fell through. The son needs a medical procedure soon and now she needs to something with the dog. I told her that I would assess the pet and then she could surrender the pet and we would help find a home for the dog. She has been in a home with children, is very sweet and is trained to detect high and low blood sugars. I am also looking for Newfoundland rescues for the pet. She is coming in the office today. Please let me know if you could help! Thank you so much!
