About Hank

Adoption Fee: $75
Alaskan Malamute mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

I am in desperate need to rehome my beloved Hank. He is a 7yo, neutered Malamute Mix (approx 52 lbs.) He's been with me since he was 1yo. I was a single woman, active, we ran 4 miles per day, wherever I went he went. However, this is not currently our lifestyle. I am a wife, mother of a toddler, and am currently pregnant with our second child. To say my focus is not on Hank and our extracurricular activities is an understatement. Hank has had a history of killing small animals. It's been my parents' chickens, my brother's chickens, small rabbits and squirrels. But recently, he's taken to digging under multiple fences to slaughter my neighbor's chickens. Most recently, he's killed my mother-in-law's cat. In addition to the killing, he's started to show signs of warning aggression toward my son: barking and growling. To date, he has not snapped or bitten him; however, I'm not willing to risk it in the future. Additionally, I fear it's going to be worse when a second child arrives. Though I hate to forfeit my sidekick, I cannot say that our situation and lifestyle is going to revert to what it once was. He needs that active owner, preferably someone without small pets or children. He truly is an amazing, chill animal. I have found he doesn't tolerate other dogs while leashed but is more tolerant when unleashed. However, he only likes submissive dogs. Other dominant dogs he will snarl his teeth and snap at. He simply doesn't have the quality of life he once had or deserves. Though this message may reach you as not quite the right fit, please do not hesitate to pass along anyone that he would be a good fit for - I will be grateful! Sadly, I have to keep my 2yo son under lockdown because he doesn't understand why he can't play with Hank. I have contacted nearly everyone I know, but they too have small children or pets. I have also contacted the Texas Alaskan Malamute Rescue the last two days but have yet to receive a response. Additionally, our local vet in Lindale, TX (Lindale Per Hospital - Dr. Koten) is aware of our situation. I have tons of pics available! Best regards, Dawn Aydani 918 527-6844 [email protected]
