About Willow

Adoption Fee: $175
Rat Terrier
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Pretty Willow is a sweet little 8-lb. dog, who endured the cruel life of a puppy mill dog for her first 7 years. Recently rescued and now adjusting to 'the good life,' Willow, who has the looks of a Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix, loves to cuddle and be amongst the people in her foster home. She follows her foster mom everywhere and sleeps in the bed under the covers with her. Mostly house-trained, Willow uses the dog door like a champ and has only the occasional accident indoors. She even went outdoors on her own in the 4-inch snow that fell in Charlotte not long ago! Willow exists with the 2 female dogs in her foster home but does not really interact with them. Although she may become more interactive with dogs in time, she mostly sticks to herself and her people. Even at this early stage, however, she can be trusted to be left alone with her two canine foster sisters without any fights or accidents occurring. A couple of times, when she thought no one was looking, she gave herself permission to chase her tail for fun and play with a toy. It is quite touching to watch Willow experience such typical dog fun for perhaps the first time in her life. Willow did have some blood tests performed after she experienced a couple of seizures in her first five weeks in rescue. All the blood work came back normal, so her vet is trying her on a special type of food, which is relatively inexpensive, to see if this will prevent any further episodes. So far things have gone well. A New Rattitude volunteer said the narrow heart-shaped marking on Willow's forehead came from being kissed by an angel. Willow certainly feels blessed to have been rescued and now she longs to bless the life of a kind-hearted person looking for the love and loyalty of a gentle dog. ------------------------------------------------------ IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING WILLOW, please go to new Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application.
