About Dude

Adoption Fee: $395
Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Dude is a male Hound/Heeler mix (best guess). The 'hound' could be Beagle but only in the face. He is 4 1/2 yrs old and about 35-40#s. He is housebroken; good with kids; other dogs; and for the most part, leaves the cats alone. In the yard a running cat may encourage chasing. BUT...he is product of a successful hip surgery. He had been hit by a car and the hip was dislocated. We didn't find him until a couple days after the accident so it was too late for a simple replacement. Surgery was necessary. The vet said that in 6 mos you'd never even know he had had surgery...and it's true. Feb 3rd will be 6 mos and he's running, hopping, and jumping with the rest of the dogs. He is doing great. Duke originally was owned by a young couple who had a baby and Dude was a pup. He was a really good house dog and very attentive to the baby. The Lady, though, was in the Navy and got orders for Hawaii and she didn't feel it would be good to be shipping Dude all over the place...plus it was expensive for that size dog so she left him with her father (her Mom & Dad were divorced). When I located the Navy lady because of the dog's microchip, we found out from her mother that the dog had been missing for a year and her Dad had moved away!!! Yes, she was shocked, but...sitting in Hawaii she couldn't do anything about it. She signed him over to me. Now I had a decision...put him down or surgery...just look at his eyes!!! Yes, we went for the surgery. The woman from the Navy did not pay any of his medical expenses. He has since lived the lap of luxury getting to sleep inside on a huge 'Lab' bed and having free rein of the house. He loves it outside, too, and thoroughly loves being with other dogs. It's time for a new home...something permanent. Adoption Fee: $395. This helps to cover some of the medical, health certificate for travel, and the cost of travel to the PNW. He is current on his vaccinations and tested Negative for Heart Worms. As you can imagine, caring for him for over 6 months and surgery and all other medical/neuter, etc , health certificate, travel to the NW are closer to $1,500 or more. We are only asking $425 for his adoption fee. Please get in your application so we can approve you and then we set up the meet and greet where you can adopt Duke when you come to meet Duke with his with his foster in Marysville, WA.
