We have a very unique dog that has been a member of our home for the past 2.5 years. She arrived at our house when she was approximately 4 months old( we were possibly the 5th or 6th home...Supposedly she was from a backyard breeder in Chicago and she went from home to home to home). We had her spayed and kept her current on Vacccs. She weighs 55 lbs, but honestly, I don't know where she keeps it. She looks like she is about 40 lbs. She has free reign to her food, because we would love for her to fill out a tad more. She is called a Cautious Canine by our vet. She loves our family, however, she is very cautious around other new people. Again, She came to us unexpectedly and we never intended to keep her in our household as long as we did. We recently have begun the procedure to find a new home for her. HIGH ENERGY...The more she exercises the more confident she becomes, which allows her to be less anxious around other people. She is super smart, as she can jump into my arms if she wants to...but it is only if SHE wants to.... She adores me and would LOVE to be our only dog. She is not our only dog, we also have a 4 year old Labradoodle style dog that she lives with and gets along with fine. He is 90 lbs and allows her to rule the roost. His personality if VERY laid back, much more the personality that we are used to in a dog. When she meets or sees a new dog, she greets the dog with an Alpha personality. (We had a foster puppy for a short period of time, we could not keep the foster puppy as she demonstrated aggression to the little puppy). Not being able to help foster the puppy was very disappointing, as I had hoped to become a permanent foster volunteer for a local animal rescue. We also have a cat that she is used to but I am not sure how she would do with other cats. She loves to go swimming, she loves to play fetch, she comes ASAP when she is called...Car rides are her favorite and she would ride anywhere!!! She sleeps in a kennel but would rather sleep with us. She is a huge snuggler ( especially with me).... We were told she is a boxer mix, but she is brindle and some have said she is a Pit Mix. We have 5 kids, so she is used to children, but she is VERY cautious when she meets new kids. We usually put her in her kennel when other kids are over, unless the other children are used to dogs. Once she gets used to them after a few visits, she is fine.... Just trying to let you know all of her personality. I think she is an AMAZING dog, but she really needs a home that focuses a tremendous amount of energy and attention to her. The CONS.... If you are not confident and relaxed with dogs, SHE WILL NOT BE A GOOD FIT. More Cons...She is nervous when she is out of her element. She gets nervous when I open a new bag of dog food. The noise of the bag scares her. She is nervous when you change the trash can. Again, like our vet said, she is a 'Cautious Canine'with an Alpha personality. Please email us if you think that you have room in your heart for this girl. She will come with a kennel, her thunder shirt( Cautious Canine clothing), toys, stuffies... We will ask you quite a few questions as well as require at least 2 meet and greets before we allow her to go to a new family. If you have a dog, we will meet you at a neutral location to allow the dogs to meet.
