With a tail that's always wagging and eyes that say he wants to please, Clive will steal your heart! Clive is a 1-year-old 12-lb. Rat Terrier (possibly a mix) who has an abundance of energy and long legs that love to run and jump. In fact, he would make a perfect hiking or running partner, and if running is not your thing, he walks very nicely on a leash too. Always ready to be out and about, Clive likes riding in the car, especially when it includes a stop at the pet store. He also enjoys serving as the resident watchdog and takes his job of protecting the house to heart. This alert little fellow will let off a bark if he hears anything, so he hopes you don't live in an apartment, where there would likely be plenty of outside noises and nearby neighbors to hear his 'calls to arms.' Clive loves the other dogs in his foster home and is very playful with them. He can be a bit possessive of toys (check out that collection of bones on his bed!), but he is very responsive to being told no. This pup is extremely friendly to people once he gets to know them, but he can get overexcited and send mixed signals at first by barking and trying to nudge closer to be petted at the same time. Slow introductions help him to settle down and get to know his new acquaintances, but because he is easily excited, he probably would not do well around young children. Even the most highly charged battery eventually wears down, and so it is with Clive. When he's had enough activity, he will become quite the lapdog and climb onto your lap and snuggle whenever allowed. He'll also love sleeping in bed with you if there's room for him. Clive is house-trained and currently crated during the day and at night in his foster home. (He barks a bit but then settles.) If you are looking for a energetic partner and willing to show Clive the ways of the world, then this pup is perfect for you!
