About Indiana

Treeing Walker Coonhound
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

It's with very heavy heart that we seek your help with finding our Indiana a new home. It's because we love her so much that we have realized that she needs a better environment that we can give her. We don't want to give her up to any of our shelters because she needs an owner who knows what they are doing. It started a little over a year ago, when our aussiedor passed away and our border collie / collie mix needed a playmate as he started to go in a vegetative state, missing his buddy. At the time we had him and a senior Aussie chow mix . All of our dogs are and have been rescues. I personally have fostered / adopted rescues for over 20 years. We found Indiana at scraps in Spokane, and she was listed as a 2 year old beagle mix. She had been returned 2 times before but she didn't show any signs of being a problem dog. After a trip to our vet, we found out she was a 8-12 month treeing walker coonhound After all our dogs did a 'meet and greet* we adopted her. Instantly she and our border collie started playing and we thought that this was the perfect plan. Unfortunately since then it hasn't been as easy, and I am not one to give up on any dog. But it has become obvious that she needs a different environment, and someone who can dedicate more time to her. She needs a home that has a backyard and room to run to get all her energy out. Because we don't have that abbillity at the moment we can only really let her out on a leash, or at a local dog park. Which is not enough. Her main issues are as follows * Issues with going pottie, as she has to be on a leash she won't poop outside, she will pee most of the time. Unless there is any kind of distraction (sight, smell sound) * Heavy barking *Chewing *Escape artist *Food and territory aggression *Obedience training doesn't work but might have more success with no other dogs in the equation *Bullies other dogs, aggressive when in her space. Same with kids, she's great with them until she feels threatened or get close to her 'possessions' She's about 2 years old now and most if not all of her issues can be mitigated by having a fenced backyard and depleting her energy levels. When she's tired or when she feels 'comfortable' she's the most loving and sweet dog you can have. However, the last few months she's been getting worse and worse, this week we found her going after our other dogs to a point where we knew it was time. She needs to find a better home, and a better and more coonhound experienced owner. She deserves it
