About Ralph

Adoption Fee: $30
Lab
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Ralph is an older (9yo) male dog. He is a typical sized labrador (med-large dog), about 65-70lbs, looking for a family home as soon as possible. Unfortunately, he does not get along with the other male dog he currently lives with and the situation is becoming worse as time goes on. Ralph is an easy-going, lazy boy who likes following people around and is a great companion. He will follow us around and generally just likes being around people. Ralph loves cats and has lived with 1-2 cats all of his life. He will lick them and let them sleep on his bed with him. He is very gentle and patient with children/babies. Ralph knows commands and hand signals and walks well off leash (in a fenced in area for safety, but will not leave the yard if the gate is open). He has lived in apartments with me before moving to a house a few years ago and always did very well in them. He loves going on walks and prefers them to being let outside in the backyard. He does very well on a leash and in the car. He loves going on car rides. He isn't too fond of chew toys, and never really has been into toys (he treats stuffed animals more as his 'babies' rather than chewing them up). His preferred toy/treat is a kong full of peanut butter. It lasts longer when it's put it in the freezer and this is his favorite thing on a hot day. Ralph knows a handful of verbal commands as well as some hand signals (shake, sit, lay down, out, go to bed). He is very well mannered and will not touch food unless you give him permission, even if food falls on the floor or is at his height (so you don't have to worry about leaving food on a coffee table or him stealing things off the counter). He is crate trained, and can be crated if need be but likes sleeping on a dog bed on the floor, typically next to the bed. Ralph is current on his shots and is due for his next rabies vaccine in late Feb.
