About Chibs

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Chibs is a 5 year old Chihuahua/Beagle mix who came to Fuzzy Pawz Rescue from an Idaho Shelter where he just wasn't being noticed by people. We aren't sure how people could be passing by this adorable face but they were. This little man has had a rough got at life and a ton of changes and it has made him loose a bit of faith in the humans who are supposed to care for him. He has lost the confidence that he will always have a warm bed, good food, a soft voice and loving hands to pet him. We want to change that! Chibs can be a bit timid when he first meets new people and may give a woof or two to make sure you don't rush at him. But that fake bravdo doesn't last long; Chibs is super sweet and loving pretty quickly; though he does warm up much faster to women to men. It took a few days in his foster home to warm up to the men in the house. He is very alert to his surroundings; curious about everything and learns pretty fast especially if treats are involved for a job well done. Chibs is crate trained, house trained and stays in his crate with the door open most of the time. On the ride to the foster home no one heard a sound out of him on the car ride and it was several hours later before he barked when the other dogs in the house barked. Chibs loves to walk but needs work and correction when approached by other dogs on leash as he gets aggressive towards the dogs and lunges and snaps at them. Off leash he does not react to other dogs the same and is fine. He has been known to bark at other dogs on the other side of the fence. Again this is all for show and with a bit of work and a loving human to reassure him that he doesn't need to be 'tough' out on a walk this behavior will go away. Would do best in a home with another small dog for play time but would be fine as an only dog also. He is leery of larger dogs and tends to go on alert and snaps at them to warn them off but has adjusted to the large dog in his foster home.
