About Ernie-ADOPTION PENDING

Schnauzer / Cairn
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

The Schnauzer/Terrier mix is a perfect combo for those who are searching for an extremely smart, adorable and loyal family dog. Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their intelligence, devoted temperaments and extremely loving ways. Both are also known to be trustworthy and generally very kind and playful with humans and other dogs. Ernie is just a young guy and is learning about the ways of the world. He loves his neighborhood walks and hiking trails with his rescuer. Ernie is learning proper socialization skills - he's a very engaging and cuddly guy who draws a ton of loving attention and he eats it up! Any time a fun adventure is the order of the day - count Ernie in! He's a young guy who can't wait to engage joyfully and energetically.. and then crash on the couch snuggling close to favorite humans and canines. Ernie is as cute as can be and a very sweet guy who favors the look and loyalty of the Schnauzer while taking on the very intelligent and engaging qualities..as well as the body structure of the Cairn Terrier. Ernie will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (salmon oil would be a great supplement for Ernie) to keep his coat healthy, gorgeous and matt-free. Ernie's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes close playmates everywhere he goes. Ernie is friendly (while perhaps initially shy) and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Ernie's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Ernie goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion. Ernie is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of his breeds. At about 24 or so months old and 18 lbs (perfect hiking or lap size), Ernie seems to be leaving behind the neglect and lack of love that made up his early life. He has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Ernie in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he'd love to be involved and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. Ernie would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time, desire and energy to be best friends with a truly adorable young dog. Ernie would be overjoyed to accompany his favorite people to the park, on neighborhood trails and even just riding shotgun running errands. Ernie doesn't require another dog to be happy.(as long as he gets both physical exercise and mental stimulation from his people). He does, however, enjoy his canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs who are smaller or of a similar size. Ernie is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from New Mexico, however there are far too few vets for the number of dogs in this industrial area. If Ernie isn't neutered, Farfel's is happy tol cover all costs for him to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Ernie will arrive on transport in Denver in mid-January (we'll update as soon as date is finalized). If interested in this very loving and devoted best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to [email protected] or fax to 303-443-7730. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Ernie, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
