About Diesel

Adoption Fee: $100
Plott mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Diesel will be two in March and has been with us since he was 10 weeks old. He is an awesome, fun, high energy ball of lap lovin. He is an outside dog who is very well behaved anytime I've snuck him in the house (don't tell my hubs). He has been raised with cows, horses, chickens, guinea, and 3 children. He does great with my kid (ages 5-11) and the cows. He plays with the horses, even when they don't want to: He is not aggressive with them but they still aren't as entertained by it as he is. As for our feathered friends...not so much, this is the ONLY reason he needs a new home. 2 weeks ago he skinned my pet chicken Matilda, and I've had to stop him from killing 3 of my birds in the last week. This has been an ongoing issue since he was 16 weeks old and I have tried several different training techniques - some worked for a spell but none permanently. He is smart and FAST, REALLY FAST and would make a great hunting, coursing, or agility dog. He'd even make a great family pet if he has a large fenced yard or a runner in the family. Just remember - squirrels, poultry/fowl, rabbits, and possibly cats (although I don't know for sure) stand no chance running from this guy. Oh! And he LOVES LOVES LOVES water! The adoption fee is waived for 501c3 rescues or refundable to individual with proof of vet visit and neuter. Diesel has brought us two years of joy (other than killing my flock) and it has taken serious thought and a lot of tears to get to this point. He will NOT go to a home inexperienced with the breed or hunting group of breeds and he will not go to a home with poultry/fowl or where neighbors have them. And if you are hesitant at all for me to visit your home to see where Diesel would be staying, and a visit after adoption to check up on him and sign a contract agreeing to such, then I'm not going to be comfortable sending my buddy off to live with you. I would prefer he goes to a reputable rescue so he has the best chance of being placed with the right home.
