Roscoe is a wonderful, laid back boy! He's a Treeing Walker Coonhound who does great on a leash and in a vehicle. He came from an area small town shelter where he ended up alone when the shelter was cleared of all its intakes; Roscoe is such a sociable fellow with other dogs that they didn't want him to be alone so they reached out for rescue. He was an outside dog before being surrendered and has had 3 previous owners. All attempted to use him as a hunting dog but claimed he wouldn't run with the pack. Someone tried to shoot him, as he came to the shelter with a .22 bullet in his neck that was removed by veterinarians and he is perfectly fine today. Roscoe is now retired from hunting and will only go to a family who promises to make him an indoor dog and love him unconditionally for the rest of his days! Roscoe will need a fence, as he's a runner if he isn't contained. He gets along famously with other dogs, unsure about cats. He's submissive, curious, likes chew toys, loves to have his ears rubbed and enjoys affection. He startles mildly if he doesn't see your hand coming in for a pet but has exhibited no signs of aggression. Due to him being just a little bit hand shy, Roscoe will do best in a home with children who can respect his boundaries (age 6+).
