About Sasha

My name is Susan Keophila. We have a female dog named Sasha that we adopted several years ago. We think she is a Dalmation/Lab mix. I am in a terrible predicament and need to find a home for Sasha ASAP. We adopted Sasha from Ft Lee, VA about 3 years ago. It became quickly apparent that she had been abused as any quick movement startled her and often I would have to kneel down to get her to come to me from outside. We think she was still a puppy even though full grown as she chewed everything. That makes her about 4 years old now. We have one other dog, also a shelter rescue, that we believe is a Brittany Spaniel. Sasha and Tobey get along well although there were two very large fights in their first two years. Sasha wants to be the dominant dog but has accepted her role as second as we always feed Tobey first, let him in / out the house first, etc. There has been no major fight in over a year. Sasha is a sweet and loving dog. She has been hesitant in trusting me totally and only last night finally lay down completely next to me to let me pet her. We recently moved to Portsmouth from Chester. Our new neighbor has a Rottweiler, Ellie, that is kept indoors all the time except when they bring her outside to go to the bathroom. The neighbor told us before that Ellie is afraid of other dogs. Yesterday, my husband let our dogs outside. When Sasha saw Ellie, she charged the fence. Our other dog, Tobey, followed Sasha's lead though this would not be his normal behavior. My husband is an Animal Control officer and says Sasha's tail was straight out and had she got over the short fence, she would have hurt the dog and possibly the owner. This same situation happened again later in the day. My husband says she has to go NOW. We are in Chester with the dogs today but will be heading back to Portsmouth this afternoon.
