About Jerry

Adoption Fee: $100
Dachshund / Jack Russell
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Jerry's wait continues as repeated publicizing fails to find his person(s). He is still sitting in his kennel waiting by the gate to be noticed. It's hard to put on a brave face when nobody wants you. Throughout December, visitors walked past Jerry as they looked for the many young puppies that had entered the shelter prior to the holiday. All of the young puppies were adopted. Nobody wanted Jerry. Christmas Eve came and Jerry was still sitting by his kennel gate. Still waiting but as happens at the close of every day, nobody comes for Jerry. Jerry survived abandonment in a drain pipe with his siblings during the summer. Children discovered the starving puppies and they were rescued. All but Jerry and brother Max were adopted. The stress of being confined for so many hours everyday is not easy and Jerry's overt excitement when seeing visitors caused him to spin and jump with joy which was to his detriment. He was perceived as being a hyperactive puppy when in fact, he was just an excited puppy who was hopeful for attention. Once he is out of the kennel and feeling the safe freedom on the end of a leash, he enjoys a brisk walk and revels in the attention of having someone ready with a hug and head scratches even if for a short while. Experiencing affection is addictive and when receiving a little, there is such a desire for more. Jerry has nothing to do but wait, to continue the vigil, to continue to hope that for him, there is more. It is unlikely that Jerry will grow much bigger and will not surpass 30 pounds. We believe he is a terrier mix with possible dashes of doxie, jack russell and feist. His adoption fee is $100. He is neutered, fully vaccinated and tested free of heartworms. Volunteers have taken him for outings with extended hikes and he shows good manners after just a bit of time on the leash and is very social in greeting dogs along the pathway. He is so trainable and eager to please. He is cat and child friendly. Video in Comment 1 and additional photos in following Comments.
