About Green Wing Macaw

Approximately 17 - 18 years old, Sgt. Pepper has been in my mother's care for the past 16 years. He is a Green Wing or a Scarlet Macaw (some discussion about that). My mom's neighbors took Pepper in when she had to move to FL to take care of her elderly mother, but their dog does not trust Pepper. He is out of his 'terrible twos' or that style behavior, and can be sweet and goofy. He loves to show off his tongue and 'toes' and talks a lot for a macaw! He does shriek around 10am and at sunset usually three times in a row. Pepper will calm down if covered, but of course that should be kept to night time or for very brief periods. When he is calm and happy, he kind of mumbles to himself as he plays with his toys. He has been around other birds, cats, and dogs, without issue. He adores my 9yo nephew and has never been mean to him. Personally (as I am not his owner; my mom is) I do not try to pet him or get too close because I recognize he and I are better that way, but he is gorgeous. Please give this charismatic and sweet, loyal bird a great home! The neighbors still have Pepper but I prefer to be the initial point of contact until we find a few good candidates.
