We have a great dog named Rumi. He will be 2 years old in March. He's a fully vaccinated neutered Boxer mix. He is also current in flea, tick, and heartworm meds. He is a very sweet, loving, people pleasing dog. He's very driven and energetic. Unfortunately he had an incident yesterday that was the last straw in a string of incidents. The energy of a house full of kids makes Rumi act out. Today he bit my 4 yr old daughter, and when I intervened he transferred that aggression to me. He is a very loved dog but the energy in the house combined with his has made two very stressful training years. I believe he would do well in a house with no kids, cats, or small animals. He does so well with some other dogs but his energy level is heightened with them. He is currently on Prozac to help the training process. He is defensive of bones/rawhides and can jump our chain link fence. He will also snuggle like nobody's business and speaking from experience, he is extremely comforting for someone who may have a chronic illness or depression. Unfortunately it is no longer safe to keep him in the house with the kids and he needs a new home. We do not want to place him in a shelter with his energy level and separation anxiety issues. We believe he would do very poorly in a shelter environment. Any help to place this sweet boy in a new home ASAP would be very much appreciated. We may have to surrender him after this weekend if we don't find a suitable alternative, but I will update if he is no longer with me and continue to try to find him a home as best I can.
