About Stella

Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

There's nothing quite like young dog energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Stella, just 9 or so months old and 33 lbs was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this wonderful girl...they rescued Stella just in time. This sweet and engaging purebred Blue Heeler is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Stella is also incredibly beautiful...with the gorgeous streaks of gold and fawn that have come out since she received a warm, sudsy bath. Stella is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of a Blue Heeler. She's also bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Stella absolutely loves her humans (as well as her canine foster brother) and is so excited to spend quality time together. Stella is an extremely loving pup...and is so happy to be a couch dog.. or cuddle up in the night for special belly rubs and kind words. Since Stella is a young girl, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through positive reinforcement group obedience classes (Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in you area). It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with excellent behavior. We're open to Stella finding her forever home with an active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a young dog. Stella is great with children as well but we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle and consistent training regimen. Stella will be up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from New Mexico, however there are never enough vets for all the dogs in need in this impoverished area of New Mexico. If she can't be spayed prior to transport, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Stella to be spayed/microchipped at our Denver vet to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation. Stella will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 1/13/18. If interested in this exceptional best friend and very loving companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to [email protected] or fax to 303-443-7730. ** PEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Stella, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
