LILLIAN 'Lilly' Facts: Age: approx 6-7 years old Size: standard GSD female (67-70) Good with people adults and children yes Good with dogs: yes with proper introduction Good with Cats/small animals: foster home with chicken Special Needs: Diagnosed with German Shepherd Panus Biography: Don't let a number fool you. That is the lesson we have learned with Lillian. She came to the rescue estimated to be 8, but we have seen nothing to suggest she is anything but 6 maybe 7 years old! She is a very happy, medium energy, sweet natured girl. She is very obedient and is in tune with what will make you happy. Lillian is housebroken and alerts to let you know she needs an outside break. If you like walks, Lillian is ready at the word 'walk'. She is energetic and pulls when she is getting started, but she falls into your pace once started. She will be as active as you want her to be, playing fetch and running around the yard or going on hikes. Lillian does great with with children and is very gentle with them. She has done well with the other dogs in the home (as well as a special needs chicken living there). She does want to be the leader, so introductions to any dogs in the home are a must. She can be shy with people who are nervous or shy around her, but she will warm up in no time. Friendly strangers are her long lost friends. She does bark when someone knocks at he door but quickly quiets down and happily greets visitors. Lilly LOVES to be brushed and gets so relaxed during brushing and being told how beautiful she is. She does not like her nails trimmed and will wiggle until she wins. Lillian has been diagnosed with German Shepherd panus. This is an eye condition that is common in GSD. Simple steps are necessary to preserve the eyesight - daily eye drops (not expensive) and outdoor restriction to the peak sunlight or use of 'doggles' for eye protection when outside.
