About Henry

Adoption Fee: $150
Irish Wolfhound / Mastiff
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

.Meet Henry!! EXPERIENCED, STRONG, XXL DOG HANDLER. Handsome Henry is half Irish Wolfhound & half Mastiff, and weighs in at about 175-180 pounds. He's 6-7 yrs old, but is healthy and strong as a horse, he has no known health or allergy issues. Henry is ok with other dogs after long, slow, proper introductions. He's been around cats briefly in his life and was ok with them at that time, but hasn't been around them in a long while. He is not alpha, but he has bad issues with possessiveness. He feels his daddy belongs to only him. They just had a baby so concerned about safety. He wants to be in the room with the family and doesn't understand when he is separated from family due to babies safety. He does love his mommy too, but he's definitely a daddy's boy, and sometimes doesn't want to share dad with mom. Henry is house trained, knows 'sit' & 'down', but does not use a crate & can be a bull moose on a leash. He does grow quite scruffy-shaggy so they groom him in the summer, and let him grow out his coat in the winter. He has gone after dogs in the past, but only when Daddy has shown them too much affection and he doesn't want to share his daddy with them. This couple loves him. They don't want to give him up. He was quite badly spoiled for his whole life, and clearly not properly trained as to what behavior is acceptable and what's not. He's been allowed to get away with his behavior for too long, and now that there's a baby in the mix his owners can't properly handle him They were going to try to rehome him themselves, but realize that in Henry's best interest, he would be way better off being surrendered to a rescue with experienced, strong, educated handlers/fosters that can help him work on his possessive behavior and eventually place him in a thoroughly screened forever home that's best suited to his needs. Obviously, a foster with no small children is called for, as he's a big dopey klutz, and also because he will be getting worked on for his possessive issues. Can your family help us help Henry? He would be brought to NE PA and then a foster would need to get him from there. Our rescue will only commit to him if the right foster is found. This transition will be very emotional for Henry so he will need time to de-compress but still have the necessary boundaries in place. Please share! Please text us at 484 375 8052. His adoption fee with be $150 for vetting and UTD.
