Gabe is fostered in North Fort Myers, FL (Lee County). We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families! Gabe is a border x spaniel mix who came from a hoarding case out in Alabama. He came to us very timid and insecure, and he has made great strides so far in foster care. He is likely between 2-3 years of age and weighs 39 lbs. Gabe's foster mom reports that he is shy and passive, and at the bottom of the pecking order among the animals in her home. He lives around other dogs, cats, birds, and has been around children as well and did just fine. We would say no screaming toddlers who might scare him, but respectful children 5-6+ would be fine. He has gotten used to being around boats, jetskis and bicycles, and has learned the joys of riding in a car with his foster mom. He will gladly jump in the car on his own! He is a total sweetheart and shows zero signs of aggression or hyperactivity. He is crate trained and loves to retreat there. Gabe will require a secure, fenced yard, and we prefer he go to a home with a stable, balanced dog or two for him to model confidence and behavior after. He will make an excellent and loving companion. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, microchipped and heartworm negative. We are awaiting the veterinarian's recommendation on whether to do surgery on an umbilical hernia he has.
