About Bubba

Say hello to bashful Bubba. He is an 8 year old Chihuahua who weighs about 8 pounds. Bubba came to us when we gave him his freedom ride from a local shelter. The shelter is a scary place for small dogs. When we got him he was very afraid and he is still a bit skittish in unfamiliar situations. Bubba takes a little time to warm up to new people, but once he does, he is a sweetheart who enjoys attention and is a lapdog. He can be choosy about who he will allow to pick him up until he gets to know you and may offer a grumpy growl if you try before he is ready. Like many of our dogs, he needs time so that he can come to you on his own terms when he is ready for attention. Bubba is good with other dogs but he likes his own space so needs to be the only dog in the home as he gets jealous when other animals want attention. He enjoys his personal time with his human and when not in your lap will just want hang out with you wherever you are, especially when riding in the car. He loves car rides. He is good with cats and just leaves them to their space. Bubba loves to be outside and is well behaved when walking on leash. He doesn't like thunder storms and will hide under a blanket until the storm passes. Due to his small size and being a bit fearful, he would not be suitable in a home with young children. Their fast movements and activity level would scare him. He is not anxious when left and is currently kept in a small pen when his foster is out of the house. Bubba is housebroken but he may mark if there is another male dog in the house. He has spent time with two different fosters and in the house with another male dog he marked and the other, which had females, he did not. We use a belly band when the dog is in the house to correct this behavior. He is up to date on all his shots and is microchipped. Bubba did originally test positive for heartworms. He has completed his treatment now and is heartworm negative. Bubba is waiting to start his happily ever after with his new family. Let's not keep this little guy waiting.
