About Beowolf

ABOUT ME: Beowulf is a charming 5 year old English Mastiff. He came to us from a shelter in Florida after his owner realized he was getting too old to properly care for a dog of Beowulf's size. After getting settled in and back to a healthy weight, Mr. B is now ready for a home of his own. WHAT I NEED IN A HOME: Beowulf can be wary of strangers, especially men, and needs to be introduced to new people and visitors slowly. He was abused before coming to rescue and as a result, Mr. B is head-shy. Therefore, his new owner must be patient and willing to work with him to build trust. Once he feels comfortable, though, Beowulf absolutely loves people and attention. Although Beowulf likes to be active, he can get overwhelmed by noisy and high-stimulus environments and would prefer a more laid-back and quiet household. An adults-only home would be ideal, but a family with older, dog-savvy children may also be a good fit. Beowulf seems to like other big dogs, and wouldn't mind finding a forever family that had a large, female dog that was on the calmer side. We aren't sure how he feels about smaller dogs, but he doesn't appear to be overly interested in the barn cats at the facility. THE DETAILS: Beowulf is housetrained, knows how to use a doggy door and is great in a crate. He knows basic obedience, but could use some continued leash training.
