This is Pocket, he is a male 8 week Chihuahua/Dachshund. His story is quite sad and the reason why puppies should not be posted on public media for free. A couple of weeks ago there was an ad on facebook for free puppies. The owner was asked by a rescue group if she would surrender them if the rescue would pay for the mama to be spayed. She agreed. Puppies were picked up and sent to rescue in Texas in order to get them adopted out. About a week later the rescue got a call about a puppy who was dumped and found nearly frozen to death a mile from the closest house. The rescue went back to the owner of the puppies and was asked if there was another one, the owner said yes there was and he was the runt and he was given away before the rest of the liter was picked up. She looked at the little puppy and said yes that was the runt. Poor little Pocket was given away only to be dumped in the winter in the middle of nowhere. The family who he was given to only thought about the 'free puppy' not all the work and time that goes into caring for a puppy. He was tossed as easily as he was acquired. He could have frozen to death, been hit by a car or eaten by coyotes. The family did not think of that only that the 'fun' of having a puppy wore off and they no longer wanted him. Little Pocket has thawed out and has become a cute fun loving little guy. He is little at only about 3 lbs. He loves to play and is learning about going outside to potty. He is a little pistol and has some problems with being separated, but who wouldn't given his rough past? Little Pocket is hoping to find a home where he will be safe and not have to worry about being thrown out in the cold again. He has had his first puppy shots and is ready to go. His adoption fee is $275.00 plus and additional refundable $75.00 neuter deposit and contract. If you would like to meet little Pocket please send an email for an application.
