About Merlot-PENDING!

Poodle / Bichon Frise
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

When Merlot's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Merlot tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Poodle mix is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Merlot became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future. At just 12 - 18 months old and 13 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best adult dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Merlot to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it. Positive reinforcement group obedience class will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Merlot and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success! Merlot gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching...he has the look and demeanor of a beautiful and very sweet Poodle/Bichon mix .. but we would never swear to it. He's just an adorable and fun scruffy Poodle mix that's irresistible! When Merlot turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag (once comfortable) is more Merlot's style. It's clear that he is working on leaving any pain behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult family for Merlot. It's not that he actively doesn't like young kids..it just appears that Merlot is more comfortable and braver around adult energy. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets. Merlot, once bonded, will be a loyal and positive companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Merlot would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you're only 13 lbs, even a very well-adjusted guy can be intimidated by large, rambunctious dogs . Merlot is so grateful to be out of the depressing shelter that there's almost a smile on his beautiful face. Merlot is a very happy guy once he's comfortable...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life. Merlot's foster mom is very happy to report that he is coming out of his shell more each day...he's blossoming. She's very clear that Merlot will be a very loving and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life. Merlot, being a Poodle/Bichon mix, is one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes available today. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Merlot is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from Kansas, however there are very few vets in this industrial area of Kansas. If he isn't fixed, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Merlot to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver. Merlot is arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 1/9/18. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out and return to [email protected], fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Merlot, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
