About Donovan

Hi guys! My name is Donovan, or as my foster mom calls me 'Don Juan' or 'The Shadow'. Those nicknames will tell you a lot about me - I'm a totally ladies man, I'll come right up to you as soon as you get home with my handsome smile, big gorgeous eyes and silky smooth coat and get right up on you for loving and cuddles. It takes a little time with st rangers as sometimes I get anxious when things are brand new but after you come sit by me and let me get a sniff I'm all yours to belly rub. Really and truly my favorite thing in the world is laying around with my humans and getting pets and scratches, closely followed by long walks and playing fetch. I'm also excellent at playing follow the leader, I'll trail right after you from room to room to make sure everything's good and to get a head pat in now and then. I was given up by my family because they couldn't bring me along on their move but you can definitely tell I was a house dog and very good boy. I'm totally potty trained, LOVE a good walk or car ride, am pretty indifferent to any fur siblings or friends and am a quiet and handsome boy in my crate when my foster mom's at work or at bedtime. I'm sorry if I'm a little quiet or scared at the Adoption Center, I'm just a little nervous coming back here after 2 years in what I thought was my furever home. I promise once you get me home and we get to know each other I'll be the best companion you could ask for! Donovan is a Male Flat-Coated Retriever/Spaniel Mix that we estimate to be born around 11/10/2017. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month time frame it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for ADULT dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. Also, our puppies can only be adopted to the immediate Houston vicinity as it takes 4 months to get them completely vetted at our vet here in Houston. We will not allow our dogs/puppies to be adopted out of the area without being spayed/neutered. We spay/neuter puppies at 4 months old. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready.
