About Tanger

This handsome little guy is Tanger. He and his siblings were born outside to a stray/feral cat but were rescued by the pound at about 10 weeks of age. Tanger will be ready to go to his new home at the end of January, after he's neutered. When Tanger first came into our care, he was under-socialized and was not used to living as part of a family. His wonderful fosters have really helped Tanger come out of his shell and blossom into a great little guy. He is still fairly shy around new people and we suspect it will take him a bit of time to adjust to a new home, so a family that has a quite home and experience working with shy kitties is ideal for him. During his time with us, Tanger has been living with other cats and they have really helped him learn how to adjust. We would really like to see him in a home with another calm cat that he can play with and curl up with. He is not comfortable with dogs or children but he has done well with the teenagers in his home (who are cat-savvy and respectful of his space.) This guy has a really sweet/soft personality and once he's comfortable and confident in his new home, he will become a wonderful companion. He purrs readily when he's cuddled/pet but he's still getting used to being carried around.
