About Aspen-ADOPTION PENDING

Australian Cattle Dog / Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Female

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're at a high-kill shelter at risk of euthanasia. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great New Mexico rescuer in saving Aspen...she could see that her temperament was so sweet and kind that she couldn't allow her to be euthanized. Farfel's was immediately contacted by Aspen's rescuer and we happily accepted the beautiful Aspen into our rescue. It turns out that Aspen, at just 6 months old and 37 lbs (expected to be approximately 45 lbs when full-grown) is a gorgeous, extremely intelligent puppy (true to her breeds) and so very sweet that it's been a fun and rewarding experience for her New Mexico rescuer. Aspen is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around her. If she continues this regimen of socialization that promote positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with her humans...Aspen will become a well-adjusted and very loving and loyal best friend. Aspen is a gorgeous Australian Cattle Dog/Australian Shepherd mix puppy. This was the opinion of Aspen's New Mexico vet and determined by her coloring/markings, stature and larger size that speaks of the Australian Shepherd. Aspen has a shining, cottony-soft coat. She will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing as well as great nutrition. With this protocol, Aspen's coat (with the gorgeous markings) will always shine with good health. Aspen's sweet and very engaging demeanor (once comfortable) is just who she is...she also appears to be more snuggly than your average crazy puppy. Aspen will sit quietly next to us on the couch loving the petting and a soft voice for a long time...but of course puppy energy will ultimately call. Off Aspen goes to run and play in the yard with our 2 dogs. If she is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, Aspen will become a well-adjusted pup who respects her people as her leaders. Aspen, having the amazing intelligence of her breed mix, is a perfect candidate for positive reinforcement group training classes. She will shine with self-esteem as she masters the skills that will enable her to accompany her family everywhere a well-behaved dog is welcome. With these skills, Aspen will also be able to participate in agility or herding...it's what these dogs are bred for and love.. and utilizes their natural skills. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. A family that loves Aspen like crazy is exactly the type of folks we're searching for for this sometimes silly, entertaining and very loving puppy. We also feel it's very important that she is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. Aspen will be overjoyed when her future holds hikes along beautiful Colorado paths enjoying the sunshine. Socializing with other hikers will definitely speak to the engaging nature of this social and sweet puppy. We'd love a family for Aspen that spends lots of time at home.. and chooses to include a fuzzy best friend in their activities. Aspen can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community. She can therefore accompany her family just about anywhere with the assurance that she'll be a social and well-behaved pup. Aspen will be arriving in Boulder unfixed due to far too few vets in this very poor area of New Mexico. If our Denver vet is used, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Aspen's spay, microchip and any additional puppy shots she might require. Aspen will be arriving in Boulder on Saturday 1/13/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this extremely sweet and devoted best friend. An application can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to [email protected] or fax to 303-443-7730. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Aspen, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving girl. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
